Clinical Study Summary – Effectiveness of Kaltech Portable Photocatalytic Air Purifier in Hay Fever Patients

Kaltech Corporation conducted a clinical study in collaboration with Atami Tokoro Memorial Hospital to evaluate the effectiveness of its wearable photocatalytic air purifier in alleviating symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever) .

The study involved 11 male and female participants aged 20 to 40 , all diagnosed with hay fever. Over a two-week period , each participant wore the Kaltech portable air purifier positioned just below the face. Symptom evaluations were conducted at three intervals—before use, after one week, and after two weeks—using a physician-supervised questionnaire based on a 10-point severity scale (10 being the most severe). The assessment was overseen by Dr. Kazuhide Iizuka from Nihon University.

The results showed improvements across all participants and symptoms . Notably, there was a significant reduction in ocular symptoms such as itching, redness, and the sensation of a foreign body. Approximately 90% of participants reported improvements in nasal congestion and watery eyes , two of the most common and bothersome hay fever symptoms. Additional benefits included reductions in sneezing, headaches, throat discomfort, and concentration difficulties. Overall, participants' quality of life (QOL) scores were reduced by more than two-thirds within the two-week period.

In conclusion, the Kaltech wearable air purifier proved to be an effective, drug-free solution for mitigating hay fever symptoms. Its compact and user-friendly design, combined with clinically observed results, makes it a promising tool for individuals seeking daily protection against airborne allergens and environmental irritants .
